Haywards Heath

Opened in July 1841, Haywards Heath railway station served as the southern terminus of the line until the completion of Brighton station on 21 September. In East Sussex was Haywards Heath, but, in 1974, a change to the boundary brought it under the jurisdiction of West Sussex. Due to the creation of Bolnore Village, to the south west of the existing town, housing in Haywards Heath has been expanded in the last ten years.

Referred to as the by-pass of Haywards Heath, which has re-routed the A272 to the town's south side, as a planning permission condition, the developers are required for the town to build a road for relief. The site is referred to as Sandrocks after the house that was there, as the village of Bolnore's construction has nearly finished the majority of Haywards Heath new housing has been on the A272's southern side.

A station on the Brighton Main Line is Haywards Heath railway station. Running around the south side of the town, Haywards Heath is served by the A272 road. Opened (ahead of schedule) in August 2014, this is the Haywards Heath by-pass.

Haywards Heath Town F.C. who play at Hanbury Park and St Francis Rangers F.C. who play at The Colwell Ground are Non-League football clubs that Haywards Heath has. In Newton Court Lindfield, Brett Anderson, Suede singer/songwriter attended Oathall School and Haywards Heath Sixth Form College.

When in December 1642 the High Sheriff of Sussex (Sir Edward Ford), Haywards Heath is referenced in English CW records advanced towards Lewes in East Sussex from Chichester in West Sussex. At Burgess Hill's Triangle leisure centre, they play their games and based in Haywards Heath have a clubhouse that is shared.
